Earl Close Obituary

Earl D. Close, Jr., age 59 of Marion, died unexpectedly early Sunday morning, February 21, 2021 at Marion General Hospital. He was born on September 13, 1961 to the late Earl Close, Sr., and Lucrecia (Merriman) Close in Marion.

He graduated from Tri-Rivers in 1980 and worked as an electrician in the Marion and Columbus area. He was a member of the Amvets Post 138 in Marion. Earl enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, especially at Lake Vesuvius in Lawrence County, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife Debra; his two daughters Taia and Jessie of Florida; his three step-daughters Michelle (Dan) Bayles of Marion, Megan (William Sharp) Daniels of Marion, and Mindi (Gene) Miller of Ironton, OH; 10 grandchildren; his siblings Dale Aaron, Peggy, and Connie; and a niece and numerous nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held in Earl’s honor at a later date.
