John Fred Preston

John Fred Preston, age 76 of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at his residence.

John was born on August 4, 1945 in Paintsville, Kentucky to the late Fred and Matilda (Trimble) Preston, Jr.  On October 28, 2017, he married Peggy Welch.

John loved watching his westerns with Peggy.  He enjoyed debating with people as well.  He will truly be missed by family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

Those who will cherish his memories include his wife: Peggy Preston of Marion, Ohio; his daughter: Juanita Preston of Columbus, Ohio; his son: Fred Preston of Cardington, Ohio; his step-sons: James (Paula) Cole of Sayersville, Kentucky, Anthony Cole of Marion, Ohio, Jeffrey (Janette) Cole of Prospect, Ohio, Mark (Rachel) Cole of Marion, Ohio and Matthew (Jamie) Cole of Marion, Ohio; his sisters: Virginia Elaine Runyon of Cincinnati, Ohio, Nellie Miranda Holub of Saint Petersburg, Florida and Margaret (Jerry Burton) Preston of Columbus, Ohio; and his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Friends and family may attend a Memorial Service honoring John’s life on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 starting at 4pm at Calvary’s Cross Church, 704 Richmond Avenue, Marion, Ohio with Pastor James Cole officiating.  Donations may be given in John’s memory to the Marion Area Humane Society, 2264 Richland Road, Marion, OH 43302.  The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Preston family.
