Marvin Eugene Welty

Marvin Eugene Welty, 85 of Delaware, OH, passed away at his residence on Sunday, January 9th, 2022. He was born on March 25, 1936, in Butler, OH to the late Clarence and Olive Welty. He married his beloved Laura Lee (Cathers) Welty on June 12th, 1959, and then were wed for 44 years until her passing. On January 2nd, 2004. He married Diane (Arnold) Welty on February 4th, 2006, and they were married for 15 years.

Marvin was a member of the New Start Nazarene Church in Delaware and enjoyed reading the word. He was a long-time employee of Nelson’s Tree Service, and he also owned his own tree service for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also had a love of ice cream that he passed on to the rest of the family.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Laura.

Those who will cherish his memories include his wife, Diane Welty, his brother, Larry Welty, sister-in-law, Tina Welty, his daughter Deborah (David Dix) White, his son, Mike (Sherry Martin) Welty, daughter, Colleen Holtrey whom would stop at his house frequently after work to visit and assist with caring for Marvin’s dog, Vinney, and run errands, his step-son, Dave (Brittany) Arnold, step-daughter, Joy (Travis) Fordham, his grandchildren, Nichole Jordan (White), Melody White, Allison and Austin Welty, great-grandson Noah Jordan, step-grandchildren, Holden, and Elliott Arnold, and Liam, Graham, and Emma Fordham.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Boyd Funeral Home located at 122 W. Columbia St., Marion, OH, 43302. Service will take place immediately after calling hours with an interment service held at the Bryn Zion Cemetery in Mt. Gilead, OH. The family would like all donations to go the local Humane Society in Marvin’s honor and memory.
