Mirle R Thompson Jr. Age 77 from Marion lost his battle with cancer on January 14, 2022. Mirle was originally form Mt. Victory where he spent most of his school age years. He graduated from Whitehall-Yearling in 1964 then was drafted to the Airforce for the Vietnam War. He met his wife Amy (Burchett) Thompson, who he is survived by, of 48 years after he returned and they married August 10, 1974, at the Meeker United Methodist Church. Mirle was a dedicated employee for the Whirlpool Corporation for 26 years before he retired. He loved to travel and would take vacations with his wife, daughter and grandchildren every summer and over Christmas break and tinker around the house as a do-it-yourselfer. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Mirle is also survived by his Daughter Tonya M Thompson of Marion, grandsons Larry (Trey) R Blair III of Cherryville NC, and Camron J Blair Nevada, Ohio, his Sister Mina (Lowell) Brown of Mt. Victory, Brother David Thompson of Adrian Michigan, and many nieces and nephews.
Mirle is preceded in death by a daughter Brandy Lynn Thompson, his Parents Mirle R (Dorothy) Thompson Sr and Opal Cox (Jim) Ohde and a sister Joan E. Thompson.
Family and friends may gather to honor Mirle’s memory on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 1 pm to 3 pm at Meeker Community Center, 6400 Harding Highway West, Marion, Ohio. Services will follow at 3 pm with Pastor Herb Jordan officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Meeker Cemetery.
