Allen Steinberger Obituary

Allen Dale Steinberger, 72, passed away in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his family on February 25, 2026. Allen was born on June 1, 1953, in rural West Liberty, OH, to his late parents, Vernon and Juanita Steinberger. Allen and his wife, Bonnie Steinberger, would get married and be together until her passing.

Allen worked at the local quarry as a heavy equipment operator for over 40 years before retiring. He was a handyman that enjoyed helping fix machines at his job and helping farmers with their equipment. Fishing, racoon and mushroom hunting were some of his favorite pass time activities. Once on a fishing trip in the Gulf of Mexico (during hurricane season) he accidentally caught someone else’s fishing line and thought it was a big fish. They pulled each other’s lines until they realized they were tangled up under the boat. He loved to tell the story and laughed at the memory each time it was told. Allen was lighthearted and always kept his sense of humor, even in his darkest days. He also had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs. Above all, he loved his family and spending quality time with them when he could.

Allen is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Joseph Allen Steinberger, sister, Shirley Steinberger, and his nephew, Mark William Steinberger.

He is survived by his brother, LaVerne (Mary K.) Steinberger, his nephew, Kerry (Debra) Steinberger, and his grandchildren, Molly Butterman, Celeste (Justin) Welch, and Christiny Butterman.
