Alma Jayne Utley, age 70, passed away peacefully at home in the early hours of January 31, 2025. She was born to Eleanor and James Black in Urbana, Ohio, in 1954, and went on to graduate from Elgin high school before going on to other adventures. She married the love of her life, Terry Lee Utley, and they had a long life full of love together until his passing in 2020. Alma was a woman who stayed busy, from being a member of the Eagle’s Lodge in Marysville to partaking in different crafts, and she adored her family. Quality time with family was something she treasured. She was known for her love of holidays and dancing around with her grandchildren. She had a passion for the outdoors, be it camping or gardening, and decorating, which was evident by her always being ready to rearrange her décor.
Alma is preceded in death by her father, James Black, her brother, John Black, and her sister, Judy Shriver.
She leaves behind her mother, Eleanor Black, her brothers, James (Vivian) Black, Earl Black, Charles (Toni) Black, her sisters, Joyce Leiter, Joann (Verlin) Swain, her son, Rick (Jackie) Utley, her grandchildren, Amanda (Sean) Utley, Zach Utley, Steven Utley, her great-granddaughter, Alessa Rife, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to care for the Utley family in their time of need.
