Basil "Corky" D. Crawford

     Basil “Corky” D. Crawford went to be with Jesus and joined his heavenly family on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at 6:52 AM. He was born in Marion to the late Neva (nee Jones) Lindsay and Basil F. Crawford on May 20, 1943. Corky is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Judy (nee McComas). His children, Randy (Christine) Crawford of Huron, OH., Basil “Chip” (Brandy) Crawford of Monnett, OH., and Alisha (Stephanie) Crawford of Green Camp, OH., 8 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, beloved pup, Sadie, and kitty companion, Jazzy.

     A lifetime Green Camp resident, Corky was a Green Camp High School graduate with the Class of 1961. He enlisted in the U.S.Army Reserves and proudly served his country from 1967 – 1973. Corky retired from the Whirlpool Corporation after 39 years as a Fire Marshall. He also served as the Village Marshall of Green Camp for 25 years. He was regularly seen around the Village of Green Camp running Fire & EMS for 53 years, active as Street Commissioner and lending a hand wherever needed.

     As an avid outdoorsman, he spent many hours fishing and hunting. He enjoyed traveling and camping with his family. Corky also reveled in collecting and restoring antique tractors as a longtime member of the Marion County Antique Tractor Association. He loved music and dancing with his beautiful wife, and he delighted in supporting his grandchildren in their various activities. As a member of Marion County HAM Radio Association and a member of the Richwood Church of Christ he was known by all as a friend.

     Visitation will be held at the Boyd Funeral Home on Thursday from 1-3 PM and 5-7 PM. Services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 1:00 PM in the Richwood Church of Christ. Elder Jeff Evans will be officiating with burial to follow in the Green Camp Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Richwood Church of Christ or to the Green Camp Trustees in Corky’s name.
