Belvie "Avonell" (Salyers) Meade

Belvie “Avonell” Meade, age 89, went to be with the Lord on December 24, 2024, in the care of Gentiva Hospice. She was born in 1935 to the late Tona and Lilly (Cantrell) Salyers in Wheelersburg, KY. She married her husband, Earny “Jack” Meade, in 1955 in Salyersville, KY, and they had many years together before his passing in 2001. Belvie worked in Environmental Services at Marion General Hospital for over 20 years. She cooked and volunteered her time at the Marion Senior Center when she was able. She was a longtime member of the State Steet Community Church. Belvie could always be found getting into something, whether it was gardening, spending time with family, or hosting and cooking for gatherings.

Belvie is preceded in death by her parents, Tona and Lilly, her husband, Earny, her brothers, Cline, Hammie, Wallace, Earl, McKinley, Gerald, and Marvin Salyers, her sisters, Wonnie Brown and Barbara Faye Salyers, her stepdaughters, Carol Jean McCarty, Ola (Ray) Conley, Maxine Blanton, and Shirley Phelps.

She leaves behind her sons, James (Teresa) and Jackie Meade, her daughter, Lillian Meade, her 9 grandchildren, Charity (Scott) Shawn (Amanda), Brandon, bobby (Tasha), Cory (Krystal), Jasmine, Ben (Lauren), Joy (Jimmy), Gillie (David) also along with numerous step-grandchildren. and numerous great-grandchildren.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, from 11 am to 1 pm at the Boyd Funeral Home with a funeral service starting at 1 pm. A committal service will follow immediately after at Grand Prairie Cemetery. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to help the Meade family in their time of need.
