Bessie Marie Almendinger

Bessie Marie Almendinger, 85, of Marion, OH, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at her residence. On August 22, 1936, she was born the late Alonzo H. Sisson and Clara Mayes in Pickaway, OH. She would go on to marry the love of her and be by her husband George on May 16, 1986, in Marion.

Bessie was a hard-working woman. She was a nurse’s aid for East Lawn Manor and the Marion Manor here in town. She worked until she retired. She was an avid viewer of the David R. Aiken Media Complex and their church services. In her free time, she really enjoyed drawing and coloring, she could also be seen reading a book.

Bessie is preceded in death by her parents, her past husbands; Richard Ditto, John Kelley, Sr., Larry Harper, and Clifford Gantt, her daughter; Linda K. Ditto, brothers; Jim, Charles and Myrtle, and her sister; Sarah, and one great-grandchild; William.

She is survived by her husband, sons; John (Beth) Kelley of Marion, OH, Richard (Connie) Ditto of Texas, daughter; Laura (Timothy Duffey) Halbert of Marion, OH, her 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

The family would like to invite her loved ones and friends to the Boyd Funeral Home for visitation on Thursday, August 18, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. There will be a funeral service held after the visitation at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2022. There will be an internment service held at the Marion Cemetery following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marion No Kill Cat Shelter and the Marion Humane Society.
