Betty Jane Criswell

Betty Jane Criswell, age 87 of Marion, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Marion General Hospital.

Betty was born on October 8, 1933, to the late Kenneth and Edna (Burns) Snare, Sr. in Marion, Ohio.  On October 28, 1949, she married Joe Criswell in Greenup, Kentucky.

Betty was a member of the Fenton Art Glass Club and loved her collectables. A farmwife all her adult life, she enjoyed crocheting and was a wonderful cook.  Her peach pie was a family favorite.  Betty looked forward to the county fairs, where she enjoyed watching her own children and later grandchildren show their livestock and other projects as well as the harness racing.  Betty will be greatly missed and sweetly remembered by family and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters: Barbara Cramer, Bridget Dittler and Ruth Ann Moury; and her brother: Kenneth Snare, Jr.

Those who will cherish her memories include her husband of 71 years: Joe Criswell of Marion, Ohio; her daughter: Kathy (Robert) Nichols of London, Ohio her sons: Rick Criswell, Delvin (Lori) Criswell and Jeff (Susan) Criswell, all of Marion, Ohio; her grandchildren: Kirk (Tonya) Nichols, Kristine (Skip) Brown, Amy (Nick) Creasap, Sarah (Nathaniel Watkins, Sr.) Criswell, Levi (Katie) Criswell, Nole Criswell and Tanner Criswell; and her great grandchildren: Ashlyn, Hunter and Reagan Nichols, Kiley Keckler, Skyler Brown, Grady, Jude, Marian, Ulysses and Matthias Creasap and Nathaniel Watkins, Jr.

Friends and family may come to honor Betty’s life on Friday, October 8, 2021, from 11am to 1pm at the Boyd Funeral Home.  A funeral service will follow starting at 1pm at the funeral home with Pastor Sam Wolfe.  Burial will follow service at Green Camp Cemetery. Donations may be given in Betty’s memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Criswell family.
