Beulah Christine (Hall) Buckner, age 88, of Marion, OH, was reunited with her husband and loved ones in Heaven on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Kingston Residence of Marion. Born August 3, 1937, in Rowan County, KY, Beulah was the youngest of six children born to the late Squire Haton Hall and Susan (Mabry) Adkins-Hall. Beulah’s childhood was tough, growing up in Appalachia during the Great Depression. She was a coal miner’s daughter and endured many hardships and privations, yet she was able to overcome those challenges and find happiness. As a teenager, she became acquainted with a handsome and charming young man named Fred L. Buckner. Fred and Beulah soon fell in love and were married on October 8, 1955, in Morehead, KY. They would be by each other’s side until Fred’s passing on July 1, 2014.
Always a devout follower of Christ, when Fred committed his life to the Lord in 1966 and began preaching, Beulah was by his side. Their journey of faith soon brought them to Marion Enterprise Baptist Church on Orton Street, where Fred served as Senior Pastor from 1973 to 2005, and where Beulah served as the unofficial mother of the church. She sang in the choir, was active in the women’s club, and devotedly helped
Fred caringly tend to the flock. She also lived her life for her family and raised them with love and commitment. Though she was protective and wouldn’t tolerate those who threatened her family, she was also sweet and tender, lighthearted, and had a great sense of humor.
Beulah is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Fred (Ronda Litz) Buckner, Jr; daughter, Theresa (Buckner) Johnson; sisters, Fannie Louise (Hall) Fultz-Fraley, Margaret Lucy (Hall) Dobbs, James Willis Hall, Dettie Frances (Hall) Sparks-Barber, and Jeanette (Hall) Cole-Hoffman. She was also preceded in death by half-siblings: Donna (Adkins) Arnold, Charles Anderson Adkins, Burl Ivan Adkins, and John Franklin Adkins.
Left to cherish her legacy are her daughters, Dianna (John Little) Quick, Rhonda (Robert) Higley, Deborah Moorman, and Susan (Brad) Bell, son, Timothy (Meriam Tarre-Bernhard) Buckner; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to invite Beulah’s friends and relation to join them for calling hours at the Marion Enterprise Baptist Church on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Marion Enterprise Baptist Church on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 12 p.m. The interment will be immediately following the funeral service at the Grand Prairie Cemetery. Rev. Jim McIntyre will be officiating all services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marion Enterprise Baptist Church.
