Bruce A. Gilliam, 70, of Marion, OH passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 19th, 2022, at home. Bruce was born March 25, 1952, in Marion to Helen G. Spears and the late Richard Cecil Gilliam. He would marry his wife, Joyce Albright, in 1972 and spend almost 50 loving years together.
Bruce retired from the Marion City Fire Department and ran his business, Gilliam Masonry, Inc. for many years, before retiring in 2006. Bruce was a sports fanatic and enjoyed playing golf, fishing, hunting, and most recently, competing all over the country in state trap shooting tournaments, winning many awards. He was also a member of the Marion Country Club and the Gyro.
Bruce is preceded in death by his father, and his brother-in-law, George Albright.
He is survived by his mother, loving wife, son; Richard Howe of Marion, OH, daughter, Lisa Howe of Marion, OH, sister, Pat (Dean) Byers of Dallas, TX, sisters-in-law; Nancy (George) Withrow, and Susan (Terry) McClure, grandchildren; Kylie (Robert) Montgomery of Hilliard, OH, and Shayla Howe of Marion, OH, and seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The Family would like to invite Bruce’s family and loved ones for visitation hours at Marion First Free Will Baptist Church on Crissinger Road on Friday, June 24, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The funeral service will be after visitation at 1 p.m. There will be an internment service immediately following at the Green Camp cemetery. Pastor Jerry Copley will be officiating all services. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the Gilliam family in their time of need.
