Catherine Louise Winters

Catherine Louise Winters, age 77 of Marion, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at her home. She was born on October 17, 1942 in Kenton, Ohio, to the late Carl E. and Jessie M. (Mentzer) Wynegar, and she married her husband Dallas Winters in 1982. He preceded her in death in July of 1993.

Catherine spent 30 years working in various positions for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, most recently as a cashier at the Marion Correctional Institution, and she was an avid crafter who enjoyed ceramics and woodworking. Until ill health began to limit her, she also enjoyed traveling, especially to visit her children. Above all else, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and her family, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sons Carl Carpenter of Ostrander, Ohio, James Carpenter of Ostrander, Ohio, and John (Connie) Carpenter of Minerva, Ohio; her brother Charles-Cliff Wynegar; her sister Leila Kennedy; her grandchildren Brandon (Laura) Carpenter of Cardington, Danny Schmidt of Woodsfield, Catherine Carpenter of Saint Clairsville, and William Carpenter of Minerva; her great-grandchildren Damien Newlan, Madison and Lilyana Schmidt, Lexi and Wyatt Carpenter, and Penelope Archer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dallas Winters; her brothers Billie Lee and Carl Henry Wynegar; her sister Dorothy Johnson; and her grandson Dennis Schmidt.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Services will take place at 4 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date.
