Charles Allen Russell, 77, of Marion, OH, passed away on January 12, 2025, at Marion General Hospital. He was born on April 2, 1947, in Marion, OH, to his late parents, Donald E. Russell and Helen E. Dorfe. He would go on to marry the love of his life, Sharon Giauque in Wooster, OH, on June 23, 1973.
Charles served his country in the Army in the Vietnam War. Later he would find work at Whirlpool for 33 years and work his way up to Supervisor. When he wasn’t at work or with his family, he was an avid golfer. He loved playing golf with his buddies at Whetstone and Marion Country Club. He made 4 holes in one in his career. He also loved watching sports, particularly the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. Charles knew his way around a deck of cards too, often playing gin or solitaire.
He is preceded by his parents and his sister Patricia Lust.
He is survived by his wife, his son, Jason (Heather) Russell, daughter, Angie (Aaron) Smallwood, brother, Don Russell, brother, Phyllis Lasiter, sister, and his two grandsons, Brayden and Cooper Smallwood.
The Russell family invites Charles’ loved ones and friends to the Boyd Funeral Home for calling hours on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m., with the Funeral Service taking place at 11am. There will be an interment service immediately after at the Marion Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, in Charles’ name to enrich the lives of the next generation of golfers: HOJGA, P.O. Box 821, Marion, Ohio 43302-0821.
