Clifford W. Lester

Clifford W. Lester, age 98 of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Kingston Residence of Marion.

Clifford was born on September 16, 1925 to the late Paul W. and Mildred Grace (Waltimeyer) Lester in Marion, Ohio.  On November 26, 1946, he married the love of his life, Lilly B. House in Marion, Ohio.

Clifford served our country in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict.  He was part of the St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.  He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #7201, Eagles Lodge #337, American Legion #584, Amvets in Prospect, Ohio and the Navy League in Washington, D.C. He served the Marion Community as a Police Officer for 29 years and worked at Kroger Company.  His wife, Lilly, and he loved to do everything together whether it was traveling, bowling, camping, hiking and even riding their bikes into their 80’s. Clifford will truly be missed by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Curtis Lester of Marion, Ohio; and his brothers: Paul W. Lester, Jr. and Kenneth S. Lester.

Those who will cherish his memories include his loving wife of 77 years, Lilly B. Lester of Marion, Ohio; his son, Charlton (Debra) Lester of Marion, Ohio; his daughter-in-law, Pat Lester of Marion, Ohio; his sisters: Wanda (Jack) Eubanks of Newark, Ohio and Judy Kay Hicks of Columbus, Ohio; and his numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Friends and family may come to honor his life at a graveside service on Friday, May 31, 2024 starting at 1pm at Grand Prairie Cemetery.  Military honors will be given at the cemetery by the Marion Area Veterans Council.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Clifford’s memory to the choice of the donor.  The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Lester family.
