David John Hillstrom, age 87, passed way peacefully at the Marion General Hospital on September 5, 2025. David was born to his late parents, Martin Hillstrom and Lois Carlson, in Jamestown, NY. He married his late wife, Bonnie Hillstrom, on June 30, 1966, in Defiance, OH. They would enjoy 55 years of marriage, before Bonnie’s passing on February 22, 2025.
David served his country in the Army National Guard. After serving he worked as a truck driver for Coca-Cola, and then Schindler Trucking, Co. for 30 plus years. It was his time at Schindler that gave him the nickname, “Concrete Man”. He loved bowling with his wife in his free time, and watching auto racing. He also was an avid member of the Moose Lodge #2094 in Defiance, OH.
David is preceded in death by his parents and loving wife.
He is survived by his sons; Daughters: Julie (Roy) Plummer of Florida, Beth Lewis of Defiance Ohio Stepdaughter; Sheryl (Gary) DeWalt Marion Ohio Stepsons; Donald Doss Larue, Ohio and David (Patti) Doss Marion, Ohio, a numerous number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, his four-legged friend, “Boots”.
There are no services at this time. Donations can be made in his honored to Moose Haven, located at 1701 Park Ave., Orange Park, Florida, OH 32073. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be laying a local veteran to rest and assisting the Hillstrom family in their time of need.
