David Allen Winck, 65, of Marion, Ohio, died at Marion General Hospital on March 22, 2021. He was born November 2, 1955, in Bucyrus, Ohio, to the late Stanley Dean Winck and Emma Mae Schott Winck.
On October 21, 1995, he married Crystal Faye White at the First EUB Church, Marion, Ohio. They shared 25 years of married life until his death. They enjoyed camping together, and visiting with family and friends. They made “really good Buckeyes” as a Christmas treat for all of their family members. David worked at a variety of jobs throughout his life. He followed in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps, becoming a carpenter and a dry wall “go-to guy.” Many years were spent working with his family on the Dairy Clipper, selling popcorn from the Popcorn Wagon, and shaking lemonades at county fairs and steam engine shows. He served on the board of the Edward Huber Memorial Association, and among other accomplishments helped build the cab on the Marion Steam Shovel that sits outside the Huber Machinery Museum on the Marion County Fairground.
David is survived by stepchildren Carol Ann (Ed) Muchow and Julie (John) Black, both of Marion, and Dennis (Heather) Rodman of North Carolina; sisters Patricia Winck Nishimoto (James) of Honolulu, HI, and Deborah Winck Conkle (Daniel) of Bloomington IN; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. One of his greatest joys in life was being called “Pepaw” by his children and grandchildren.
There will be a Memorial Service at the Boyd Funeral, Monday, March 29, 2021, from 2p.m. to 3 p.m. Those wishing to make a contribution in honor of David are asked to give to the Edward Huber Memorial Association, P.O. Box 6010, Marion, OH 43301.
