Deborah Sue Carr

Deborah S. Carr  age 69 passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, Dec. 8th, 2023.  She was born to the late Jesse and Shirley Downs on Oct 6, 1954 in Marion, Ohio.  She was educated at Marion Harding High School, class of 1973 and later took early childhood classes at Tri Rivers Career Center.  In 1973, she married Fred (Effie) Adams. They later divorced but remained very good friends. She was a state licensed child care provider for more than 40 years.  She was also a member of the American Legion Post 162 and the Moose Lodge. 

She enjoyed taking road trips (especially to the ocean) and spending time with family.  But most of all she loved being with her precious dog, Phoebe who was more than "just a dog" to her. Her daughter and Phoebe were her world. She was very passionate about all her daycare kids throughout the years.  She was one of the best at caring for them and treating them like her own.  She enjoyed her conversations and spending time with special friends, Jeff Reynolds, Kelly Redmon, Walt Newland, Tammy Hay, and Matt Powell.  She enjoyed her life long neighbors, Billy and Celina Adkins and Wendell and Margie Hunt. Billy and Celina would look in on her when needed. She was the most caring and giving person, she would help a stranger when she could.  She impacted so many lives over the years.  

She is survived by her daughter, Brandy Adams and her partner Amanda Martin of Delaware, Ohio, Brothers Michael (John Wilke) Downs of Charlotte, North Carolina and Patrick Crager of Delaware, Ohio.  Niece Kayla Crager of Cincinnati, Ohio. She also had a "bonus" daughter, Lisa Gendrow of Marion, Ohio. As well as many childcare kids and friends.

Services will be held at Boyd Funeral home December 15, 2023 1-3 with a short service at 3. Immediately following friends can gather at American Legion Post 162 for a Celebration of Life.

In lieu of flowers monetary donations may be made to the family In care of the funeral home.
