Delbert Eugene “Stoney” Stoneburner, age 88 of Marion, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Marion General Hospital. On January 26, 1935, he was born in Marion to the late Virgil and Nina (Hart) Stoneburner, and on July 24, 1954, he married the love of his life, Shelba (Denney).
Stoney worked as a maintenance supervisor for Whirlpool for 34 years, and he was a member of the Masons, Oliver Lodge #447. He was a private pilot who flew his own plane, and he was known as a tinkerer. He liked to puzzle out problems, and he was very handy. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife. They spent many years wintering in Florida.
He is survived by his wife Shelba Stoneburner; his daughters Peggy (Mike Wiseman) Stoneburner and Penny (Rich) Woy; his son Jeff (Dee) Stoneburner; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Nina, as well as his 12 siblings.
Services for Stoney will take place at a later date. He will be laid to rest in Marion Cemetery.
