Donald Lee Luke, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Kingston Residence of Marion. He was born in Marion, Ohio on August 27, 1939. He was born to the late Earl E. and Marguerite (Roberts) Luke. Donald graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1957. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Marine Corp where he served from 1957-1960 as a Fire Range Instructor at Camp Lejeune and Quantico, VA.
In 1960, Donald met the love of his life, Dianna J. Evans of Marion, Ohio. Prior to Donald’s proposal of marriage, Jerry Davis pulled Donald aside and said, “I want to show you the most perfect engagement ring for Dianna. On February 19, 1961, they united in marriage and began their life together. Soon after, they started their family with three beautiful and wonderful daughters.
Terri L. Martin (Rick), Tracy A. Graham, Janette R. King (Thomas “TJ”), all three of Marion.
Also surviving are Sister; Elaine Courte of Québec, Canada, Brother; Nelson Luke of Concord, California, and Sister-in-law; Beverly Luke of Marion. Grandchildren; Devin (Danielle) Severns of Cardington, Ohio, Luke (Rachel) Severns of Delaware, Ohio, Natalie (Jerry) Colton of Lutz, Florida, Travis (Krissy) Graham of Manhattan, Kansas, Haleigh Billups of Marion, Ohio, RaeAnna King of Marion, Ohio, Jennifer (David) Stamolis of Delaware, Ohio and Chris Martin of Kenton, Ohio. Thirteen Great Grandchildren and Three Great-Great Grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dianna (Evans) Luke of 57 years, twin brother and sister Robert and Roberta Luke, brothers Karlton Luke, Phillip Luke, Richard Luke, and sister Norma Redd.
Donald was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene for over 75 years. There he served on the church board, SS teacher and numerous committees. He worked at BF Goodrich and retired from Anchor Swan in Bucyrus, Ohio. On June 8, 2024, the Honor Flight Columbus recognized and honored Donald for his years of service with the United States Marine Corp at the Honor Flight at Home in Marion, Ohio.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Visitation 10-11 am with Service at 11:00 am at Boyd Funeral Home. Officiated by Pastor Johnny Edler. Interment will follow at the Marion Cemetery, Serenity Garden.
