Doris Maxine Radel, age 88 formerly of Marion, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, Missouri. Born November 17, 1932 in Marion, to the late Charles and Hazel (Benz) Schaber. She was a 1950, graduate of New Bloomington High School. On May 2, 1953, she married the late William Harold Radel.
She worked for the Marion City School District as a Teachers Aid at Glenwood, and Oak Street Schools, and then as School Secretary at Fair Park Elementary. She worked beside her husband, actively serving in various musical roles during his ministry. Doris retired after working several years as a secretary for Arthur Feldman accounting office in Galion, Ohio. She was a member of Berean Baptist Church in Pickerington, Ohio.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, William, her three sisters: Ethel Seitz, Martha Orahood, Frances Creamer and brother Warren Schaber.
Those who will cherish her memories include her children: Dale (Chris) Radel formerly of Marion, Ohio, Cynthia (John) Roby of St. Louis, MO, Dwight (Pam) Radel of Hilliard, OH Duane Radel of Etna, OH, and brother-in-law Ray Edwin Harvey of North Carolina. She will be dearly missed by her 6 grandchildren, Rachel (Justin), Ashley, Jacob, Abbie, Aaron (Allyson), and Max (Jessa) and six great grandchildren with one more due any day.
Friends and family may come to honor Doris’s life on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 10am to 11am at the Boyd Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 starting at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Eric Cuenin officiating. Burial will follow funeral service at Chapel Heights Memory Garden in Marion, Ohio. Donations may be given in Doris’s memory to Dr. David Jeremiah Turning Point Ministries in El Cajon CA, or the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in Charlotte NC. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Radel family.
