Dorothy "Dot" Fay Phelps

Dorothy “Dot” Fay Phelps, age 61 of Marion, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the Marion General Hospital.

Dot was born on October 16, 1960 to the late Everett and Marjorie (Hall) Thompson in Sandusky, Ohio. On August 9, 1978, she married James Phelps in Marion, Ohio and enjoyed 44 years of marriage.

Dot owned and operated D&J’s Vibrant Colors for 16 years. Dot enjoyed interacting with the many people that came in the tattoo shop. She never met a stranger and loved everyone.

Dot enjoyed flowers (especially her voodoo lilies), gardening, spending time with family, traveling, and loving on her dog, Sassy. But the true highlight of her life was spending time with her beloved husband, Jim Phelps. She will truly be missed by family and friends.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters: Janice Culp and Kathy Brown; and her brothers: Dave Thompson, Jerry Thompson and Jim Thompson.

Those who will cherish her memories include her husband of 44 years, James Phelps of Marion, Ohio; her sons: Ben (Ashlee) Phelps of Marion, Ohio and Jay Phelps of Bucyrus, Ohio; her sister: Lori Timmons of Marion, Ohio; her brothers: Don (Vi) Thompson of Midland, Texas and Roger Thompson of Marion, Ohio; her sister-in-law: Mary Kummerer of Marion, Ohio; and her three grandchildren: Michael Phelps, Ayden Phelps and Adeline Phelps.

Friends and family may come to honor Dot’s life from 10am to 11am on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the Boyd Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 starting at 11am at the funeral home with Reverend Doug Ford officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given toward Dot’s funeral expenses. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Phelps family.
