Earl J Hornbeck, 79, of Marion, OH, passed away at Marion General Hospital on March 16, 2025. His late parents, Clarence and Mary (Matteson) Hornbeck, welcomed him into the world on October 14, 1945, in Marion, OH. On February 15, 2002, Earl would marry his wife, Linda Redmon, at the City Hall of Marion; she was by his side until the end.
Earl worked in his early life for the Islay’ Ice Cream company. He later worked for the City of Marion as a waste collection specialist and maintenance division for 29 years. He was a member of the American Legion post #162 and the VFW post #3313.
Earl is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Christopher Hornbeck, and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Hornbeck, son, Jim (Cindy) Hampton, his daughter, Jodi (Tim) Oliver, 3 grandchildren, Michael and Sara Hampton, and Matthew Campo, and many nieces and nephews.
Per his wishes, there will be no visitation. There will be graveside services at the Brown Cemetery in Prospect, OH at a later date. Pastor William Miniaci will be officiating the graveside service. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Hornbeck family in their time of need.
