Thursday, August 4, 2022 at about 15 til 12 am, Edward Leon “Lee” Hayner went to be with the Lord. He fought a good fight. He has finished his course. Henceforth there is laid up for him a crown of righteousness and not for him only but for all them that love His appearing. – II Timothy 4:7&8
Lee was born at Scottown, Ohio, on February 22, 1940 to Edward and Florence Hayner. He graduated from Decatur Washington High School and worked for the US Forest Service and married his high school sweetheart – Dorcy (Johnson) Hayner on August 14, 1960.
Lee worked at Tecumseh before retiring from Wyandot Popcorn after 24 years. They had no children, but their dog “Mr. Buttons” brought a lot of joy to them. “Mr. Buttons” was loved very much. He survives.
Lee was a member of Marion IPCC Church for many years. He was very supportive of Dorcy in the ministry and the church in general.
Lee leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, sister-in-law Betty Sue Joseph, nieces and nephews, also a very special cousin Gladys M. Neil in NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Florence Hayner.
Rest in peace, Lee. You are much loved and will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 1 pm at Grand Prairie Cemetery.
