Fannie Criswell

Fannie (Eckard) Criswell, age 96 of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Wyndmoor of Marion. On August 17, 1925, she was born in Mason County, West Virginia, to the late William and Mae (Edwards) Eckard, and on June 15, 1944, she married her husband Harold R. Criswell in Kentucky. They had been married for 68 years when he passed in 2012.

Fannie graduated from Waldo School in Waldo, Ohio, and then worked at S.S. Kresgee in Marion until their first child was born. From then on, she and Harold farmed (crops, livestock, and dairy cattle). Fannie always had a large garden, and she did a lot of canning and freezing. She was an active and faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waldo, Ohio, for over 60 years. She was also a member of several neighborhood clubs, as well as the Sportsman Club Women’s Auxiliary in Waldo.

She is survived by her daughters Sharon K. Warner of Prospect and Rebecca L. Criswell of Plain City; her grandchildren Karrie Warner, Mark (Jessica) Warner, and Morgan Laci (Ryan) Welsh; and her great-grandchildren Wyatt, Adelaide, Mackenzie, Trent, Cheyenne, and Mary Jo.

Fannie was the last surviving of the 12 children in their family. She was preceded in death by her brothers Wilbert, Ralph, Roy, and Woodrow Eckard and her sisters Mable Heinlen, Sylvia Clark, Marjorie Perry, Dorothy Ramsey, Maxine Frye, Christine Stover, and her twin sister Ann Gatlin.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 10 am to 12 pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 135 W. Main St., Waldo. Services will take place immediately following at 12 pm at the church with burial to follow at Waldo Cemetery.
