Well, he did it his way every step of the way, right up until 9:02 AM on October 9, 2024.
Floyd Edward DeWalt, 67, of Waldo, Ohio, graduated onto his new journey with his wife, Nance, and family by his bedside.
He was brought into this world and gifted to Virginia Lee (Parsel) Boggs and the late Bernard Edward DeWalt on November 14, 1956, in Galion, Ohio.
September 18, 2010, Floyd and Nancy “Nance” Jeane Bixler married in Ashley, Ohio after 14 years together. Having to ask Nance 3 times left him a bit perplexed but later found out she thought he hit his head or had too much to drink each time so she never answered him.
To know Floyd or not, he would make your worst day the best with his humor and a smile that lit the world. If you didn’t know him, you would, he didn’t know a stranger. Music was his peace; he could tell you who the band was and the name of the song.
Driving truck and farming was his calling, working for various companies and farmers up until being hired at Jack Cooper Transport as a Teamster Car-hauler retiring after 22 years.
Enjoying the open road, Nance and Floyd could be found supporting Poker Runs by different organizations helping raise money for the Marion County and surrounding areas. Nance and Floyd have owned “Lickem Stickem Biker Tack Shop” for 21 years specializing in custom patches for the motorcycle and rock band community all over the United States. He loved going into the local bike events enjoying himself as he watched over Nance while she sold and sewed patches on. For 12 years, they put their heart and soul into a benefit, “Justins Run For Hope” raising money for local children with life threatening illnesses, The American Diabetes Association, Kamp Hamwii, and Columbus Children’s Hospital.
His greatest loves were the Brothers and Sisters of the Independent Biker Association MC (IBA MC). “PINK FLOYD” his given road name, was standing President of the North Central Chapter of Independent Biker Association MC and was National Secretary from 2022-2023. Becoming part of the Brotherhood in 2016, was one of the highest honors of Floyd’s life. He had watched and paid attention to the “OLD SCHOOL BROTHERHOOD” and found it to be a perfect fit.
Loving to be around people his garage became the “Pink Floyd’s Pink Flamingo Lounge” in 2002. There were many fund raisers with live bands held on the property. The lounge was also a popular poker run destination and great Sunday meeting place. Sundays became known as “ASSHAT Sunday” with an official club of 7 members being honorary “SONS of ASSHATTERY”.
Graduating onto their next journey before Floyd was his youngest brother, Michael DeWalt, and Father, Bernard DeWalt.
Left with Floyd riding in their memory are his “Ride or Die”, Wife, “Nance”, sons, Dustin (Carrisa) DeWalt of Lake Charles, LA, and Damion (Melissa) Killen of Upper Sandusky, OH, daughter, Misty DeWalt of Summerfield, Fla., brothers, Gary (Sheryl) DeWalt of Marion, OH, Doug (Denise) DeWalt of New Dover, OH, grandchildren, Skylr and Mia DeWalt, and Fayleigh and RyLee Maynard. Floyd also leaves his Brothers of IBA MC to continue riding this beautiful country in his memory.
The Brotherhood , Sisterhood, Family, and Friends are invited to celebrate Floyds graduation onto his new journey on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at The Boyd Funeral Home from 11am until 3pm with IBA MC Chaplain Charlie Tuna officiating. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to not only to be assisting the family of Floyd DeWalt in their time of need but also highly honored to receive the love the local biker community has shown our home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Independent Biker Association MC Christmas Fund benefiting the less fortunate of Southern Ohio.
On behalf of the family, Nance would like to thank IBA MC, all local MC’s, Associations and civilians for “Making Noise”, the calls, texts, FB, and Instagram messages received and help when an SOS was sent out. We are without words and humbled the outpouring of love shown us during the past year as we traveled our journey to make sure Floyd lived his best life. God bless each of you and may HE wrap HIS arms around you and keep you safe.
