Floyd Gene Hay, 80, passed away at the LeConte Hospital in Tennessee on June 8, 2025. He was born to his late parents, Floyd Hay and Betty McGowan, in Chillicothe, OH on February 11, 1945. He would marry Vickie Ross Hay in 1982 in Virginia. They would stay married until Vickie would have to leave his side, passing in 2021.
Floyd was a family man through and through. He loved to be home with his family taking care of them and spending precious time with them. He was a hard-working man, so any time he had off he enjoyed being a homebody with wife and kids. He was a truck driver for the True Value Trucking Company for over twenty years. When he wasn’t at work or with his family, he had a sharp mind and was a master mechanic. He loved to tinker and learn about different things that caught his attention. This made him a wealth of knowledge to anyone who had the privilege of talking to him.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Donald (Tammy) Gene Hay, Tammy Cassidy, Mindy (Adam) Hay, step-son, Jimmy (Christine) Buttrey), siblings, Jordan (Jerrica) Gibson, Dezaray (Kendric) Hay, Garrett (Reba) Hay, grandchildren, Bethany (Chris) Collier, Brittany (Matthew) Gibson, Brandon (Alyssa) Huck, Ashley (Colton) Barber, Kevin Wheeler, and Nicki (Andrew) Gushard great grandchildren, Dylan and Zach Collier, Hudson Ireland, Hazel and Dawson Pyles, Rori Hay, Scarlett, Rylan and Maverick Huck, Austia Diaz, Mikie, Tate, Liam, Emma, Andrew, Allison, and Alex Buttrey, and step great grandson, Camden Hackett.
The Hay family would like to invite Floyd’s loved ones and friends to join them for calling hours at the Boyd Funeral Home on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The funeral service will take place right at 12 p.m. There will be a procession with a graveside service immediately following the funeral service at the Marion Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made out to St. Jude’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
