Frank Shelby Jr., age 78 of Marion, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones.
Frank was born on January 30, 1943, to the late Frank and Maggie (Carmack) Shelby Sr. in Rilla, Kentucky. On September 12, 1971, he married Hazel Hatfield in Claiborne County, Tennessee.
Frank belonged to the Oak Knoll Baptist Chapel. For many years, he was the building superintendent of the YMCA here in Marion. Frank was a master carpenter, he built his own dream home and pool table with his wife Hazel. He loved to shoot pool. He was admirable and looked up to by family and friends. His personality and unconditional love changed many lives around him. Frank will truly be missed by family and friends.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Elmer Shelby, Daryl Shelby and Roscoe Shelby; his sisters: Lucille Hatfield, Mary Partin, Coffa Partin and Pearl Dix.
Those who will cherish his memories include his wife of 50 years: Hazel Shelby of Marion, Ohio; his daughters: Michelle Shelby of Marion, Ohio and Anna Hatfield-Shelby of Marion, Ohio; his son: Frank Shelby III and wife Janelle of Marion, Ohio; Son-in-law: David Branham of Marion, Ohio; his brother: Charlie Shelby of Middlesboro, Kentucky; his sisters: Lois Jean Partin of Middlesboro, Kentucky and Willa Mae Smith of Middlesboro, Ky. His thirteen grandchildren: David and Britney Branham Jr., Deidra Branham, Tyler and Hallie Franklin, Aubrie and Ray Worthington, Cheyenne Renee and Frank Ayden Shelby, Lyle and Christopher Payne, Kaitlyn and Matthew Clevenger. His six great-grandchildren: Trey and Liam Branham, Aaliyah Branham, Teagan and Nash Lowry, and Rayna Worthington.
Friends and family may come to honor Frank’s life from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, September 27, 2021, at the Boyd Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, starting at 1pm at the funeral home with Pastor Chris David officiating.
