F. Gary Chiles, age 78 and a true lifelong member of Marion, reunited with the love of his life Saturday, May 29, 2021, at his residence. Gary was born on July 27, 1942, on Davids Street here in Marion and was raised by his grandma Ethel Marie Case.
Mr. Chiles worked at Whirlpool for 40 years as a repairman around the facility. He even was on the volunteer firefighter prevent unit there as well. Gary loved to travel with his wife and family all over. Josie, his dog, was his furry travel companion and would often travel on planes with him often. When not flying, he enjoyed going to places like a good flea market or a yard sale. He also was no stranger to the Amish community. Besides travel, he was an entrepreneur and a huge history buff.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Marilyn J. Chiles and his brother; Bill Chiles.
He is survived by his son; Jeffrey (Justin) Chiles of Naples, FL, daughter; Brenda (Christopher) Justice of Marion, his brother; Daniel Chiles of Marion, sisters; Patricia Lemasters, Barb Jamison, Dixie Lyons, all of Caledonia, OH, and Karen Sullivan of Bucyrus, OH, his grandchildren; Tasha (Matthew) Wakely and Wesley (Amanda) Brown, and his great-grandchildren; Brock and Jack Wakely, of Marion, and Mila and Liam Brown.
The family is having visitations at the Boyd Funeral Home on Thursday, June 3rd, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The funeral service will follow immediately after visitation hours at 1 p.m. Officiating the service will be Don Kelly. There will be an interment service held at the Chapel Heights Memorial Garden once the funeral service has concluded.
