Franklin (Frank) Ervin Cohrs

Franklin (Frank) Ervin Cohrs, age 89 of Marion, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 7, 2023.

Frank was born on May 27, 1933, the only child of the late Edwin and Esther (Clausen) Cohrs in Deshler, Ohio, where he was raised and graduated high school, before joining the United States Air Force. He was initially based in South Dakota before being stationed in Europe during the Korean Conflict. During his time in the Air Force he was a photographer, who having obtained high levels of security clearance, used his skills to develop classified images.

Following his time in the Air Force he returned home to Henry County. It was here that he married twice, had five children and worked for over 25 years at Agri Supply in Holgate, Ohio.

On August 25, 2007, he married Maxine Mabrey in Marion, Ohio. During their time together, Frank moved to Marion where he worked at Walmart until age 88. In his free time, Frank enjoyed fishing, tractor pulls and time with family. His sense of humor combined with his kind nature, made him someone that people naturally warmed to and as a result he was a much loved and respected member of the community.

Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Esther Cohrs.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Cohrs of Marion, Ohio; his children: Tom (Nancy) Cohrs of Tucson, Arizona; Julie Johnson of Napoleon, Ohio, Diane (late Tom) Bergin of Englewood, Ohio, Jennifer (Gene) Robinson of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Amy (Alastair) Parker of Alderton, United Kingdom. He will also be greatly missed by his stepchildren, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Friends and family may come to honor Franklin’s life from 11am to 12pm on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Fairpark Community Baptist Church, 940 Bermuda Drive, Marion, Ohio 43302.  A funeral service will be held starting at 12pm on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Fairpark Community Baptist Church with Reverend David Rush officiating. A burial will follow the funeral service at Green Camp Cemetery with the Marion Area Veteran’s Council performing military honors.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Franklin’s memory to: DAV – Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.  The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Cohrs family.
