Gertrude "Gert" Garver

Gertrude “Gert” Garver, age 86 of Marion, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Marion General Hospital.

Gert was born on October 17, 1936 to the late John and Betty (Nusser) Edler in Marion, Ohio.  On October 8, 1955, she married the late Donald Wayne Garver in Marion, Ohio.

Gert loved collecting angels.  In her younger years, she decorated cakes and made clothes for her children.  She will truly be missed by family and friends.

Gert was preceded in death by her parents, John and Betty Edler; her husband, Donald Wayne Garver; her son, David Garver; her brothers: Donald Edler, Ken Edler, Richard Edler and Tim Edler.

Those who will cherish her memories include her daughters: Laura (Scott) McCrery of Marion, Ohio and Carol (Jim) Patterson of Marion, Ohio; her sister, Debbie (Larry) Popp of Marion, Ohio; her brothers: Sterling (Nancy) Edler of Marion, Ohio, John (Emily) Edler of Marion, Ohio, Ted (Melinda) Edler of Lima, Ohio, Doug (Bev) Edler of Caledonia, Ohio and R.C. (Jen) Edler of Delaware, Ohio; her grandchildren: Megan Holland, Matthew (Lisa) Holland, Andrew Kennedy, Christina Kennedy and David Garver, II; and her numerous great grandchildren.

Friends and family may come to honor her life from 4pm to 7pm on Friday, April 7, 2023 at Boyd Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 9am at Newstart Church, 795 Pollock Road, Delaware, Ohio 43015.  A burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Gert’s memory to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and/or American Cancer Society, American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.  The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Garver family.
