Harold Riley Obituary

We, the family of Harold William Riley, come to you with broken but humbled and grateful hearts to announce that he has been called home to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 1st, 2026. He is gone from this world but ever present with our Heavenly Father.

Bill was born on April 9th, 1947 in Marion to the late Thomas William Riley and Zella Maude (Green) Riley. They have both passed. Harold had three brothers. Robert (Bob) and Kim Riley of New Bloomington, Charles (Chuck) Riley of Baltimore, Maryland, and Harry R. Riley of Marion.

Harold William Riley served our country proudly during the Vietnam War. He was on the front lines risking his life daily for those he loved back home. Thankfully, God watched over him and brought him home safely. He would often tell many stories of his time over there including how he received his numerous medals and honors.

Mr. Riley married Betty Sue (Lucas) Riley on June 21st, 1996. They built a life they loved. Jesus was the center of their lives and gospel music filled their home everyday. They attended White Oaks Road Freewill Baptist Church for many many years. They wrote love letters to each other almost daily- filling several large containers over the years. Knowing they are together again brings our hearts nothing but joy.

Together Bill and Betty raised five sons and two daughters. Randall (Sherry) Lucas of Ardmore, Alabama, Bruce (Ellen) Newsome of Marion, Danny Newsome of Meeker, Diane (Floyd) Higgins of Marion, Jason Riley and Jermey Riley both of Mt. Victory, Jennifer (Wayne) Stock of New Riegel.

They were blessed with ten beautiful grandchildren Melissa Ann Lucas of Ardmore, Alabama, Rob (Ashley) Young of Bucyrus, Chad (Amy) Young, Columbus Joseph Higgins, and Nicole (Jacob) Howell all of Marion, Noah (Lillian) Higgins of Urbana, Emily Higgins of Marion, Devon Stock, Chelsea Stock, and Auston Stock all of New Reigel. As well as 16 great-grandchildren, Keashaun, Makayla, Amyr, Arie, Shelby, Ashlynn, Alivia, Charity, Israel, Kegan, Oaklynn, Jacob, Gabe, Zekai, Walker, and Mayzie. Along with Several great-great-grandchildren.

Please join us for a celebration of a well lived life on Friday January 9th time at White Oaks Road Freewill Baptist Church at 1859 White Oaks Road Marion, Ohio, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Services will be officiated by Pastor Kevin McCoy.
