Harvey Fitzwater Obituary

God gained another angel on Saturday, September 25, 2021 when Harvey A. Fitzwater passed away at the age of 99.  Harvey was born on August 28, 1922, to the late Oscar Ellis and Louella Marie (Theobald) Fitzwater in Marion, Ohio.

At an early age Harvey began caring for a blind man and helped him sell his merchandise.  Then, at 16, he joined the CCC.  Later he went on to work at Marion Metal, Tecumseh, Oury Engineering, and retired after 23 years of working as a welder at Marion Power Shovel.

On June 3, 1945 he married the love of his life Reha Jean Willaur and recalled it snowing on this day.  They celebrated their 76th anniversary this year.

Harvey was a member of the Berean Baptist Church where you could find him every Sunday in a suit and bow tie, of which he acquired a nice collection of.  He loved God and he loved people.  He got a kick out of being ornery, and he always had a joke to share.  He had a special way of making people smile.  He was a collector of drummer boy quarters and coins, and enjoyed horses, homemade butterscotch cookies, watching Cash Explosion, playing cards, doing puzzles, and listening to music.  Harvey will be truly missed by family and friends.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents: Oscar and Louella Fitzwater; his wife: Reha Fitzwater; his brother: Norman Fitzwater and his sisters: Thelma Huntsman and Mary Ellen Bateman.

Those who will cherish his memories include his son: Larry Fitzwater of Marion, Ohio; his daughters: Lois Coy of Marion, Ohio and Marge Roloson of Marion, Ohio; his eight grandchildren; his twenty-five great grandchildren and his twelve great-great grandchildren.
