Helen L. Zuspan Alcorn, 93, of Marion, OH, after a brief illness at the Marion
General Hospital on Sunday, July 13, 2025. Helen was born in Marion, OH to the late
Donald D. Zuspan and Florence E. (Upton) Zuspan on December 25, 1931. After graduating from Pleasant High School in 1949, Helen married her high school sweetheart, Jimmy D. Alcorn, who survives, on June 3, 1950. They celebrated their 75 th wedding anniversary last month.
After Helen retired from the Fulfillment Corporation, she pursued her love of quilting and her love of travel. Helen served as a choir director at Prospect United Methodist Church and later at Peace Community Church of Christ. Before her health failed, Helen and Jimmy were faithful members of Crosswood United Methodist Church in Marion.
In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by two sons, Steven and Jeffrey Alcorn, two sisters, Virginia Kline and Peggy Sensing, and two brothers, Lawrence and Keith Zuspan, as well as a grandson, Bruce Alcorn.
Helen is survived by her husband, Jimmy, two sisters, Shirley Campbell of Marion, OH and Carol Blass of Lima, OH, a brother, Jerry Zuspan of Ashville, Alabama, daughter-in-law, Debra (Ron) Craft, two grandchildren, Jason D. (Mickenzie) Alcorn and Amy Alcorn, 3 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to invite all who knew Helen for calling hours on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Boyd Funeral Home. There will be a funeral service immediately following calling hours. The interment service will be held at the Marion Cemetery. Helen’s cousin, Ron Sanderson, will be officiating all services.
