Ira J. Stacy, 88, of Marion, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025.
Ira was born December 20, 1936, in Dwarf, Kentucky, to Ira Stacy, Sr. and Melda
(Noble) Stacy. He grew up in Mill Branch Hollow and carried his love of Kentucky with
him throughout his life.
After graduating from MC Napier High School, Ira proudly served in the United States
Air Force for four years, stationed in Japan. His time in the service was a source of
great pride and a formative chapter of his life.
Ira had a wonderful, friendly personality and never missed a chance to break into
song—something that always brought joy to those around him. In his retirement years,
he found happiness outdoors, whether mowing the lawn, tending his beloved tomato
plants, or spending time in his woodworking barn creating projects with his hands.
Gardening was one of the joys he passed along to his daughter Deborah, who
continues to share that passion. His youngest son, Tommy, made sure Ira always had
wood on hand for his projects, a gesture that kept his love for woodworking alive. One
of Ira’s greatest joys was being part of his son Clark’s baseball years—he loved being at
the ballfield, conditioning gloves, and cheering him on—and that passion carried
forward as he proudly supported all three of Clark’s children in their baseball and
softball activities.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda Lee (Clarkson) Stacy, and their three
children: Ira Clark (Joell) Stacy, Deborah Lynn (Steven) Speaks, and Tommy Layne
(Stacie) Stacy. He was a proud grandfather to Clark’s children, Haleigh (Jason) Dean, Ira
Coby Stacy, and Georgie Stacy; Debbie’s son, Zachary Speaks; and Tommy’s children,
Nicole Chatfield, Hunter Stacy, and Brandon Stacy. Ira was also blessed with six great-
grandchildren.
He adored his wife, Linda, and often said she was the greatest blessing of his life.
Through 61 years of marriage, they created countless memories and supported one
another through all of life’s challenges, sharing a deep love that everyone around them
could see.
Ira was the oldest of eight children. He is also survived by his siblings Betty Epple, Don
Stacy, Letty Stacy, Josephine Kurtz, and Nancy Napier. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Ira Sr. and Melda, and two siblings, Dan Stacy and Verna Stacy.
Family and friends will remember Ira for his warmth, humor, and the songs that so
often filled a room. Many recall how much they enjoyed shopping at Big Lots, where
Ira was a manager for many years, just to hear his cheerful and fun announcements
over the PA system. His love of simple pleasures, his devotion to family, and his strong
Kentucky roots will be cherished forever.
