Obituary for Jackie “Big Jack” Strickler
Jack Strickler quietly passed away on September 7, 2025, at the age of 75. He was
born in Fairmont, WV, on January 26, 1950, to the late John H. Strickler and Martha L.
Harden. Jack was joined in marriage, on June 15,1968, in Marion, Ohio, to Bertha Ann
Rasnick.
Jack was known to friends as “Big Jack”, and he was known as a big Cleveland Browns,
West Virginia University, and Ohio State University fan. At home, he was a prolific
reader and always had at least one book going, usually a Stephen King novel. His TV
was typically tuned to a good old western or sports. He was an avid fisherman who
could be found most weekends catching walleye on Lake Erie from his boat, the “Out-n-
About”, or sitting beside a fire along the riverbank. He enjoyed hunting and had taken
several deer and plenty of small game throughout his hunting ventures. He also loved
being out and about on his motorcycle and participating in local charity poker runs.
Mostly “Big Jack” enjoyed hanging out with his many, many friends that he loved dearly.
Jack at times would refer to himself as a “factory rat”, being he had worked as an
assembler for 10 plus years at Wilson Bohannan Lock Company and nearly 20 years at
the Marion Tecumseh Products plant, but many will remember him from his time as
manager, bartender, and bouncer at the Portofino “THE PORT” Bar.
Jack will leave to cherish his memory, wife; Bertha Ann (Rasnick) Strickler, son; John
(Melinda) Strickler, daughter; Rhonda Scheff, sister; Sharon Parker. He was a loving
grandfather blessed with 3 grandchildren: Brandon, Nick, and Sid.
Jack is preceded in death by sister, Barb Markley, and his parents.
Details regarding final arrangements will be posted at a later date. Donations in Jack’s
