Jacqueline Boyd Obituary

Jacqueline Boyd, age 88 of Marion, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Legacy of Marion.

Jacqueline was born on June 9, 1935 to the late Dewey and Maud (Ratliff) Gilliam in Mossy Bottom, Kentucky along with two sisters and five brothers.  On February 6, 1953, she married the late Floyd Boyd, Sr. in Banner, Kentucky.  Floyd Boyd, Sr. passed away on February 17, 2016 in Marion, Ohio.

Jacqueline was a long-time member of the First Freewill Baptist Church and a homemaker.  She enjoyed working in her flowers and gardening.  She also enjoyed woodworking, crafts and quilting.  She was an outstanding cook and made the best peanut butter pie and raspberry cake.  She loved her grandchildren and always enjoyed being around them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd Boyd, Sr.; her grandchildren: Drew Boyd and Cara Boyd; her sisters: Tiny Gilliam and Edith Copeland; and her brothers: James Gilliam, Charles Gilliam, John Gilliam and Cecil Gilliam.

Those who will cherish her memories include: her brother, Leo (Vickie) Gilliam of Marion, Ohio; her brother-in-law, Gary Copeland of La Rue, Ohio; her sister-in-law, Helen Gilliam of Texas; her children: Floyd (Sharon) Boyd, Jr. of Marion, Ohio, Sheila (Steve) Persinger of Marion, Ohio and Kenny (Brenda) Boyd of Marion, Ohio; her six grandchildren: Steven (Brooke) Boyd, Chad (Airian) Persinger, Cory (Melissa) Persinger, Dale (Kaycie) Boyd, Jacob (Ashley) Boyd and Sabra (Scotty) Conley; her eleven great grandchildren: Brayden, Alayna, Corissa, Jude, Ellis, Avery, Archer, Ronan, Knox, Wade and Dax; and her numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may come to honor Jacqueline’s life from 11am to 1pm on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at the First Freewill Baptist Church, 1449 Crissinger Road, Marion, Ohio 43302.  A funeral service will start at 1pm at the church with Pastor Jerry Copley officiating.  A burial will follow the funeral service at Grand Prairie Cemetery.  Donations may be given in Jacqueline’s memory to the First Freewill Baptist Church or Ohio Health Hospice of Marion.  The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Boyd family.
