James Woodrow Kelley, Sr., age 76 of Marion, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Marion General Hospital. On December 10, 1944, he was born in Oak Hill, Ohio, to the late James Henry Franklin and Margaret (Fulk) Kelley, and on November 18, 1967, he married his loving wife Carol (Wilson). They were married for 53 beautiful years.
James worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Marion County Engineer’s Office for 32 years. James loved music. He played the organ in his younger days. James enjoyed working with wood. He will truly be missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Carol Kelley of Marion; his daughters Jackie Kelley and Linda Kelley-Dunn of Marion; his sons James Woodrow Kelley, Jr., and Donald Kelley of Marion; four grandchildren Amber L. (Jon) Parks of Richwood, Ohio, Danny R. (Jennifer) Kelley of Marion, Ohio, James “Jay” Woodrow (Annalisa) Kelley, III of Galion, Ohio and Chelsea R. Emerson of Marion, Ohio; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Margaret; his brothers John, Melvin, David, and Charles Kelley; and his sisters Mary Davis, Louvetta “Betty” Armbruster, and Barbara Kelley and a great granddaughter.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Boyd Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place at 3 pm at the funeral home with burial to follow at Waldo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Boyd Funeral Home in assisting with funeral expenses.
