James William Laufer

James William Laufer, 65 of Marion, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon, November 17, 2021, at his home with his loving wife by his side.

He was born March 20, 1956, in Mechanicsburg, PA to the late Billy and Paula Laufer.

Jim graduated from Marion Technical College and retired from Honda Engineering NA in 2008.

Jim loved music and playing his many guitars.  His favorite was his Ibanez Destroyer with the Bill Lawrence pickup.  He played in bands around Marion and the surrounding counties with Borderline and Music City Express. Also, he enjoyed fixing and working on cars.

Surviving is his wife, Linda (Knickel) Laufer, who he married October 8, 1992.  Also, surviving are his children, Heather (Doug) Turney of Westerville, OH and Jennifer Laufer of Marion, OH, and his granddaughter, Anna Turney of Westerville.  Also, surviving is a brother, Charles Laufer of Pueblo, CO, and a sister, Jeannie (Chris) Stanton of Hampshire, IL.

Friends and family may come to honor Jim's life on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 5pm to 7pm at the Boyd Funeral Home.  A memorial service will follow starting at 7pm at the funeral home.  Donations may be given in Jim’s memory to the James Cancer Center by going online to: www.giveto.osu.edu/makeagift.  The family would like to thank Ohio Health at Home Hospice and all of the Dr's, nurses, and PSA's at Marion General who took such good care of Jim during his last stay.  The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Laufer family.
