James Arthur Phelps

James Arthur Phelps, age 64 of Marion, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024. On November 23, 1959, he was born in Marion to the late Milton and Barbara E. (Bentley) Phelps, and on August 9, 1978, he married the love of his life, Dorothy “Dot” (Thompson).

Jim owned D&J’s Vibrant Colors with his wife for 19 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and he was a member of Heaven’s Saints. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he had a passion for feeding the homeless.

He is survived by his sons Ben (Ashlee) Phelps and Jay Phelps; his sister Mary Kummerer; and his grandchildren Michael, Ayden, and Adeline Phelps.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dot Phelps, his parents Milton and Barbara Phelps, and his brothers Isaac Eugene and Milton Bryan Phelps.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at LaRue Cemetery.
