James “Jim” Dana Rhodes, 70, of Marion, Ohio died unexpectedly on April 22, 2022 from cardiac arrest. Jim was lively and his loss was unexpected. The family is deeply saddened.
Jim was born on September 28, 1951 to James & Mary Rhodes at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Jim lived in and around Marion his whole life. He married Sally in 1985 and adopted Ty in 1987. Jim enjoyed the years with his family at the farm he and Sally called home before her passing in 2015.
He worked beginning with sweeping floors in a barbershop at age 14 and continued with Quaker Oats, then retired from Honda. He was a programmer and paint specialist before retiring.
Jim spent time as a volunteer, mentoring children at several Elementary Schools around Marion. He also volunteered in various ministries at MarionNaz, including Sunday School, CR and helping members of the congregation.
Anyone who knew Jim, knew that he was incredibly generous and kindhearted. He had an immense passion for his church and his family. He was always a source of positivity and a smile. Jim’s family and friends will miss him more than words can say.
He is survived by his brothers, John (Darla) & Brent Rhodes, son, Ty Rhodes, stepsons, Bryan Tomlin (Monica), Douglas “Doug” Tomlin and Phillip “Phil” Tomlin (Barbara), grandsons, Hawk & Colt Rhodes and Zach Tomlin, his sister-in-law, Carol Ault, and countless other loved ones. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Sally Sue Rhodes.
Jim was an avid giver and tither in life. He would be honored by any contributions in his memory being made to MarionNaz (his home church) or your favorite charity to support.
There will be a funeral service held at 1:00 p.m., April 30th at MarionNaz with a visitation 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. The family appreciates your love and support during this difficult time.
