Obituary
James A. “Jim” Williams, age 84 of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at his home. On February 19, 1938, he was born in Marion to the late Omer and Naomi Williams, and on June 8, 1976, he married his late wife Diana Lee (Garver).
Jim worked for the post office for over 20 years, and he spent time as an Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff of Marion and was also a member of the United States Army Reserves. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching Ohio State basketball and football, as well as the Cleveland Indians/Guardians. He loved spending time with his granddaughter and vacationing with his family, and he always enjoyed helping people.
He is survived by his stepson Bret (Karen) Slane; his granddaughter Hannah Slane; his sister Susan Seckel; his brother-in-law Joel (Mary Lou) Garver; his niece Julie (Chuck) Ward; and his nephews Doug (Kathy) Seckel and Ron Seckel.
He was preceded in death by his wife Diana Williams; his parents Omer and Naomi Williams; his stepson Brad Slane; and his granddaughter Lauren Slane.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Boyd Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 10 am at Marion Cemetery.
