Janette L. Birdsong-Grace

Janette Lorraine Birdsong-Grace, age 78 of Marion, went to be with her late husband on March 20, 2022 at Marion General Hospital. On March 2, 1944, she was born in Beloit, Wisconsin, to the late Arthur Mavor and Lorraine Isabel-Alice (Olsen) Tracy, and on November 8, 1993, she married her late husband, David D. Grace.

Janette worked as a registered nurse for almost 30 years, spending 9 years with Galion Community Hospital and 20 years with Marion General Hospital, and she was a dedicated member of Community Christian Fellowship in Prospect, never missing a service. She was known as a giver with a heart of gold who always came bearing gifts, and she would do anything to help a person in need, whether she knew them or not. She loved her children dearly and spent her life fiercely providing for them, putting herself through college and working the jobs she needed to in order to give them a better life.

She also loved cooking, especially for others, as well as crocheting and sewing. One of her greatest loves in recent years was caring for her beloved pet cat, and she also enjoyed traveling for much of her life, having set out on 20 different cruises.

She is survived by her sons Lynnie (Janet) Birdsong and John Birdsong; her brother John (Francine) Cronin; her sister and lifelong bestie Paula (Doral) Sharp; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband David Grace; her parents Arthur and Lorraine; her brother John Tracy; and her sister Sandra J. House.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 10 am to 11 am at Community Christian Fellowship, 209 E. Water St., Prospect. Services will take place at 11 am at the church. Burial will follow at LaRue Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Two of Janette’s favorite charities were the Marion Area Humane Society and the Wounded Warrior Project.
