Joe DePolo Obituary

Carl Joseph “Joe” DePolo, age 82 of Marion, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, May 21, 2022. On February 5, 1940, he was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to the late Carl Joseph and Nina G. (Arrington) DePolo, and on January 28, 2005, he married his wife, Kimberly (Gottfried).

Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1962, and he later retired from his position as an IT manager at Nachurs Alpine Solutions after 27 years of work. He continued to work as a private contractor for them for 19 years following his retirement. He enjoyed classic cars, car shows, and western movies, and he was a major sports fan, especially when it came to college football or basketball. He was also a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife Kimberly DePolo; his sons Dominic DePolo and Joe Michael (Robin) DePolo; his step-son Kyle (Laura) Dettra; his step-daughter Lindsey (David) Hill; his brother Phillip (Jan) DePolo; his half-sister Cheryl Butler; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Nina; his son Antonio “Tony” DePolo; his brothers Nick and Tony DePolo; his half-brother David Llewellyn; his stepfather George Llewellyn; and his brother-in-law David Butler.

Family and friends may gather to honor Joe’s memory on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 from 10 am to 11 am at the Boyd Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 11 am with Rev. Nathan R. McBeth officiating. Burial will be held at Claridon Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
