John Lee Hathaway

John Lee Hathaway, age 60 of Marion, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at his residence. On February 4, 1962, he was born in Marion to DelRita (Blashinsky) Beeney and the late John Levi Hathaway.

John graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1980, where he played varsity basketball. He also played for Marion Baseball for Youth for several years as a shortstop, and he was chosen to play on the all-star team. After high school, he worked for Simcote for 35 years.

John loved anything American Southwest. He was very close to his nieces and nephews. He was always ready to laugh, and he was such a likeable guy that he had many friends throughout his lifetime. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his mother DelRita and step-father Donald J. Beeney; his sisters Marcy Hathaway and Laura Hathaway; his aunts and uncles Delores Verbus, Marsha (Gordon) Wall, Inda (Dan) Lama, Ted (Phyllis) Blashinsky, and Don (Darlene) Blashinsky; his nieces and nephews Brian Levi Graham, Seth Hathaway, Elizabeth Gaither, and Anthony (Niki) Gaither; his great-nieces and -nephews Lexis, Leasia, Olivia, Emma, Melanie, and Simon; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father John Levi Hathaway; his uncles John Blashinsky, Jr., and Mike Verbus; and his grandparents Martha and John Blashinsky and Lee and Loma Hathaway.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 9:30 am to 11 am at the Boyd Funeral Home. Services will take place at 11 am at the funeral home with burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
