John Andrew Spires

John Andrew Spires, 57, of Marion, OH, passed away in the comfort of his own home on June 26, 2025. On May 21, 1968, he was born to his late parents, John Ivan Spires and Evelyn Louise Moore, in Kenton, OH.

John always lived his life on the go. He worked as a truck loader for Sika for 4 plus years. He also flipped houses on the side when he could. Before that he ran a trucking company called, “Spires Express, LLC”. John was proud of his military service with the U.S. marine Corp. He also was a very charismatic person, and a lady’s man. John was a good friend and a great father and grandfather. He loved coaching softball and basketball for his kids and watching their sports events. Animals were another thing John loved. He had a soft spot for his dogs, Angel, Lady, Buckeye, and Emily, and his cat, Max. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling, camping and running 5k marathons. He liked to visit the VFW on Route 4 and was a big fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.

John is preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Brooklyn Spires (dcd. 2002).

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Aaron (Nicole Reis) Thompson, Tessa (Jordan) Burns, Rachel Puglisi, and Olivia Spires, his sister, Jane Spires, grandchildren, Jaden and Colton Burns, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews, and his good friends, Joe Hickman and George Smith.

The Spires family invites John’s family and friends to join them for a Celebration of Life at the Boyd Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 6: 30 p.m. There will be a memorial service starting at 6:30 p.m. There will be a graveside service held at the Grand Prairie Cemetery at a later date. Pastor Alex from Dayspring Church will be officiating all services.
