John Irwin Truitt, age 63, of Marion passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 2:56
PM in the comforts of his home with his family by his side. He was born in Marion, Ohio on
February 15, 1957 to the late Robert “Bob” and Doris (Wilkinson) Truitt. John married the
former Cynthia Parsons and they have been happily married for over 30 years. Surviving along
with his wife are 2 daughters; Natalie (Shaun) O’Donnell of Prospect, OH. and Chelsea
(William) Sexton of Marion, OH., 2 brothers; Mike (Sarah) Truitt of Columbus, OH. and Gene
Truitt of Marion, OH., and 4 grandchildren; Landon, Madalyn, & Addyson O’Donnell &
Kierianna Ward. John was preceded in death by a son; Scott Truitt and a sister; Connie
Bukowshi.
John was a 1975 graduate of Harding High School. He was employed for over 37 years
with the Whirlpool Corp. before his retirement in March 2019. John absolutely loved the
outdoors and spending time camping and fishing with his family and friends up at Lake Erie. He
could also be found on the sidelines cheering on his grandchildren at anyone of their sporting
events. John was also an avid Ohio State fan and never missed a game cheering on his Buckeyes.
He leaves behind a great legacy to many!
A graveside service will be held in the Glendale-Union Cemetery, Cardington, Ohio on
Thursday, March 12, 2020, beginning at 2:00 PM. Officiating will be Russell Howard. A
memorial service and meal will be provided for friends and family to gather afterwards at the
Richland Road Church of Christ starting at 4:00 PM.
