John W. Zamer, Jr, age 72 of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Marion General Hospital.
John entered into this world on May 2, 1946 to the late John W. and Sammy (Langham) Zamer, Sr. in Johnstown, PA. On September 18, 1981, he married Elizabeth "Sue" Turner in Portsmouth, OH.
John served in the United State Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked for the Marion Power Shovel for 26 years. He retired from being a truck driver for Depot Express. He enjoyed being a vauled member of the Marion Ohio CPAAA. John will be missed by his family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his son: Jeffrey Ray Mayse.
Family who will cherish memories of John are his wife: "Sue" Zamer of Marion, OH; his sons: John Zamer of Marion, OH, Andy Zamer of Portsmouth, OH and Aaron Zamer of Marion, OH; his brother: Walter "Junior" Smoteck of Huston, TX; his sisters: Jean Slack of Columbus, OH and Maria Verwall of Houston, TX; many grandchildren and few great grandchildren.
A memorial service and dinner in John's honor will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 5pm to 9pm at the Steve Young Memorial FOP Lodge, 5327 Harding Hwy E, Caledonia, OH 43314.
