Joycelyn Jean Yost

Joycelyn Jean Yost, age 89 of Marion, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023. She was born October 11, 1934 to the late Lawrence and Evelyn (Isett) Garver. Joy married Frederick P. Yost on July 9, 1955 in Richmond, Indiana.

Joy graduated in 1952 from Marion Harding High School, where she played drums in the orchestra and marching band, and was how she met Fred. She graduated from secretarial college and worked for a local lawyer. After marriage, Joy was a homemaker and her volunteer work included fundraising for charities, Girl Scout leader, and PTA. She also served as treasurer for the Ladies Auxiliary of the local railroad employees. She enjoyed traveling and being outdoors.

Joy is survived by her daughters: Carolyn Dodds, Kathy (Mike) Sykes, and Linda (David) Sillick, along with 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, her brothers, Robert and Dennis Garver, and a son-in-law, Eldon Dodds.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Grand Prairie Cemetery.
