Juan Rico Pickens, age 52, of Marion passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 10:01 PM in the Mt. Carmel East Hospital, Columbus. Rico was born in Marion, Ohio on May 27, 1969 to father, Lawrence Holley and mother, Sandra Sue Pickens.
He was a member of Mayes Community Temple. Rico graduated from Marion Harding High School and served as a basketball and football umpire for the Ohio High School Athletic Dept. for over 30 years. He was employed with the Marion City Parks & Recreation Dept. for nearly 30 years. Rico also operated a livery and limousine service in Marion for several years.
Rico is survived by two sons, Christopher Michael Whitman-Pickens of Ft. Wayne, IN. and Juan Rico Pickens II of Marion, OH., a very special person he called “son”, Michael Earl Prude, two brothers, Richard (Delma) Jones of Columbus, OH. and Jeffrey Pickens of Utah, and much extended family. He was preceded in death by two sons and a sister, Casandra Stapleton.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021, from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Boyd Funeral Home. Pastor Cory Rogers will conduct the funeral service on Monday, November 22, 2021, at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Grand Prairie Cemetery.
